122 Journalists Imprisoned: State Can’t Help But Convict Journalists
122 journalists entered prison in October. 296 journalists and media representatives faced 182 lifetime imprisonment and 3,036 years and 8 months in prison over the TCK and TMK. 109 journalists and media workers were discharged or forced to quit.

In 2016, the number of imprisoned journalists rose from 31 to 131, a record high for the last five years. 56 journalists were attacked, and 118 others were threatened. 179 media outlets were shut down by statutory decrees, and 10,000 media workers were left jobless.

ECtHR has sentenced Turkey to 17,000 euro.

German Journalist Hinsch Detained for Three Days
German freelance photojournalist Robin Hinsch has been detained for three days in guesthouse of Urfa Provincial Directorate of Security on the grounds that he trespassed Syria border. Hinsch said he had been interrogated for one and half day without sleep.
