Military Prosecutor Launches Investigation About The “Coup Diaries”

According to NTV, the Office of the Military Chief Prosecutor asked for the copies of all the information and the documents about the Ergenekon suspects retired generals Eruygur and Tolon and started an investigation about the “Coup Diaries”.

According to NTV’s report, the General Staff Military Prosecutor called Zekeriya Öz, the prosecutor in charge of the Ergenekon investigation, and asked for the copies of all the information and the documents concerning Şener Eruygur and Hurşit Tolon, the retired generals arrested in connection with the Ergenekon investigation.

According to the report, the office of the General Staff Military Chief Prosecutor started an investigation about the “Coup Diaries” that were not included in the Ergenekon indictment.

The military prosecutor can open investigations about the crimes done by the military personnel while in active duty.

Retired four-star general Hurşit Tolon and former commander of the Gendarmerie Forces and head of the Atatürkist Thought Association (ADD) retired four-star general Şener Eruygur were taken into custody in connection with the Ergenekon investigation. Their houses and offices were searched, all the information and the documents found were seized and they were arrested later.

The “Coup Diaries” are not in the Ergenekon indictment

Today, Chief Prosecutor Aykut Cengiz Engin announced during the press release of the Ergenekon indictment that the “Coup Diaries” were not included in the indictment. (NZ/EZÖ/TB)
