Thousands of people in Diyarbakir commemorated world-famous Armenian musician Aram Tigran on his first death anniversary in a concert at the Batikent Square.
Armenian musician Aram Tigran was commemorated by thousands of people in Diyarbakir, where he had wished to be buried. Tigran could not be buried in Diyarbakir because of the attitudes of the officials.
Although Tigran had wished to be buried in Diyarbakir, he was buried on 17 August in Brussels, Belgium.
At the concert, Tigran's songs were sang by the musicians of the Dicle Firat Cultur Center and the children's orchestra of Cizre, Koma Sorxwin.
Armenian musician Tigran, who sang many of his songs in Kurdish, died on 6 August in Greece, where he had been living since 1995. Tigran had stated two years ago, that he would like to be buried in Diyarbakir.
Tigran, in an interview with Aknews during his time in Diyarbakir, had said, "I love Diyarbakir and its people." (EO/EA)
