Nolle Prosequi For Company Owners in Torun Center Case
Prosecutors completed an indictment on Torun Center Workplace Murder, a lift problem that 10 workers dead due to falling on September 7.
Prepared by senior prosecutor Erdal Bağcı 41 days after the incident, 4 out of 25 defendants have charged the “neglected murder” [no intention but responsibility in death] of 10 workers to prison terms from 2.5 to 22.5 years.
According to Cnntürk.com website, defendants Aziz Torun, Mehmet Torun, Yunus Emre Torun, Lütfü Vardı, Abdulvahit Kaplan, Bektaş Ateş, Tuncel Akarçay, Haluk Okur, Özmen Özmenoğlu have been dismissed of charges.
The 31-page indictment has been sent to Istanbul 13th High Criminal Court. The penal court will respond to the indictment, either positive or negative, within 15 days.
Following the incident, lift technicians A. A. and T. D., shift supervisors Ö.T. and M.A. were arrested. (NV/BM)
