Commission Orders Removal of Voice Recordings From File

The parliamentary commission to investigate corruption allegations on the four former ministers ordered the removal of leaked voice recordings that led to the information despite opposition party motions. 

The decision was issued on the grounds that the aforementioned “evidence” was acquired unlawfully”. 

Yesterday, the commission denied the trial of 4 former ministers in the Supreme State Council with 9 votes against 5. 

The removal order - which meant that the evidence is to be physically wiped out immediately - was announced by the commission member Mesut Dedeoğlu from Nationalist Movement Party. 

According to Hürriyet newspaper, Dedeoğlu said the removal decision was announced right before the closure of commission meeting. 

“They are obscuring evidence”

Commission member Erdal Aksünger said the following:

“They decided to remove the leaked voice recordings by wiping them out in front of the commission. These recording will be sorted out and taken out of the file. In order to do this, they will also call all members to meeting. They will do the wiping out by paper shredder.”

“However, these hearings were made after a court order. This is evidence obscuring. It is unlawful. As Republican People’s Party (CHP), we submitted a motion on this. I have said this before. Now we observe that they want to obscure evidence.” (AS/BM)
