Arrested for child abuse, teacher faces 110 years in prison

Arrested for sexually abusing his students in Samsun's İlkadım district, primary school teacher Y.Ö. now faces 110 years in prison.

The indictment issued against Y.Ö. by the Samsun Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has been accepted by the Samsun 4th High Criminal Court. Accordingly, the defendant is now charged with "sexual abuse of the child" and "sexual abuse of the child by molestation".

The indictment has also cited the statements of the abused children, their parents, witnesses and people who have information about it.

According to the indictment, upon one child's complaint and the news in the press, three other children have been included in the investigation.

Considering that the act of the defendant was "sudden and intermittent", it has been concluded that he "committed the crime of sexual abuse of the child by molestation" against the 12-year-old child and "systematically subjected the aggrieved people to systematic sexual abuse."

An investigation was launched against teacher Y.Ö. on December 14 on the grounds that he had allegedly sexually abused his students. Examining the camera footage, the police detained the teacher.

After the related procedures were completed at the security department, the suspect was arrested by the judgeship. (AÖ/SD)
