The IPS Communication Foundation was established in 1993 with the aim to "realise and support projects in the area of communication and development". The activities of the foundation are carried out upon projects financed by grants and donations provided by local and international resources.

The income of the IPS Communication Foundation Economic Management entirely flows into the foundation.

* BİA3- "Journalism for Rights Freedom for Journalists"

 

Aim: Contribute to the concept of journalism focused on rights to make this concept common place.

* Strengthen Bianet

Aim: Strengthening the bianet news site in terms of contents and financing.
Activities in the scope of the project: Provide training to 120 local journalists in 7 different regions of Turkey related to journalism ethics, writing news and news photography.

* BİA2: "Freedom of the Media, Independent Journalism, Monitoring and News Network"

Aim: Supporting local media; monitoring violations of freedom of expression, promoting a more frequent and substantial media representation of human, women and children's rights; establishing and developing standards for journalism and a concept of professional ethics.
Activities in the scope of the project: Bianet news site, Media Monitoring Reports, training for the local media and rights organizations, legal assistance for the local media, radio programs prepared to be used by the local media, International Independent Media Forum

Aim: Establishing a national network to follow up and protect press freedom and independent journalism.

* Being a Women in her 20s in the Mediterranean

Women journalists from Turkey, Algeria, Italy, Lebanon, Spain, Egypt, France, Morocco and Palestine set out to describe the life of "a Mediterranean women in her twenties".

On 5/6 February 2007, a project meeting in Barcelona was lead by bianet, babelmed.net based in Rome, the monthly magazine Akfar/Ideas from Barcelona and L'Orient Le Jour. The project was supported by the Anna Lindht Foundation, IEMed (Mediterranean-Europe Institute) and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.

The meeting was held to inform about the main headings and the format of the project. It included an open session under the topic of "Visibility/invisibility and representation of women in the media". The outcomes of the project were mainly published by bianet, babelmed, Akfar/Ideas and L'Orient Le Jour.

It is a continuously unfolding network since 1997 and embraces "Training Drives" for journalists and communication students and NGOs; handbook series, "Radio Programs" for the local media, conferences, forums, international exchange programs.

IPS Communication Foundation (BİA)IPS Communication Foundation is the implementing body for the BIA &bianet.org. Founded in 1993 by four journalists and one human rights activists, has implemented many projects including a BİA, BİA2 and BİA3.

BİA LibraryBİA Library comprises of handbooks series and guides and researches which systemize the theoretical and informative contributions realized during the implementation of programs within the BİA projects. Some of the 15 publications are in English and accessible via bianet.org.
