President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in his speech he made at Extraordinary Religion Council has as to Fethullah Gülen Community said, “We too backed this organization with good intention like all politicians. I am saying frankly that I aided them though I personally disagree with many of their ideas. We thought we had a common feature. We couldn’t see their true colors for a long time”.
“I have had many high-ranking manager friends whom I shared this and that our attitude has changed. We have put forth our stance clearly as of 2012. I started to form serious doubts as to operations and cases against the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK). The charges pressed against the commanders whom I worked with for a long time weren’t convincing me”.
“I know there are still ones who don’t believe”
“December 17-25 coup attempt became a move that reveals true colors of this organization. Many of our friends weren’t believing even when I was telling this. I know that there are still ones who don’t believe it.
“Despite everything, I am in deep sorrow to not be able to reveal the true colors of this organization. My god, my nation forgive me”.
Erdoğan also added that anyone heeding Gülen’s words “has accepted in advance what will come over them”. (ÇT/TK)
