“Homeland Security” Talks Resume With Scarves, Gas Bombs

26 articles have passed so far after the parliamentary talks on the draft of Turkey’s new homeland security act. The talks continue along with opposition deputies’ protest by wearing covering their face with scarves and holding gas bomb grenades. 

The opposition deputies requested that the voting would be made openly. The request of Republican People’s Party (CHP) and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) to have a group-based meeting, on the other hand, has been rejected. 

In addition to that, HDP) deputies protested the talks regarding the penalization of covering faces by covering their faces with Palestinian-style scarves. CHP İzmir deputy  Mustafa Moroğlu also arrived to the podium with a tear gas grenade in his hand. He emphasized that tear gas bombs shouldn’t be used after their expiration date. [Referring to the latest brawl of deputies] He also added that the violence on the street now spilled over to the parliament. 

The talks will resume today from Article 27.
