9 Soldiers Killed In A Remote-Control Bomb In Eastern Turkey

Following the attacks by the Turkish forces, the Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) blew up an army truck, killing nine and injuring 2.

According to the latest news, 8 soldiers and 1 officer were killed and two soldiers were injured in an explosion in Kemah district of Erzincan province in eastern Turkey.

Ntvmsnbc.com reported that Erzincan governor Ali Güngör announced that there was an explosion in Olukpınar village of Kemah district in Erzincan, blowing up an army truck.

One major colonel, two master sergeant and six private soldiers were killed and one captain and a private soldier were injured.

Intense clashes in recent days

In recent days, the clashes between the Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) and the Turkish security forces have intensified. On August 6, a police officer was killed in a rocket attack.

On July 11, close to 10 PKK militants and a temporary village protector were killed in a clash in Kato Mountain in eastern Turkey. On July 25, there was an attack attempt on Bingöl Police Department, again in eastern Turkey.

On July 23, the General Staff had announced that the Turkish fighter planes had hit 13 PKK targets in Northern Iraq. Four days later, the fighter planes hit 12 more PKK targets. (EÖ/EZÖ)
