Supreme Court Chief Prosecutor Yalçınkaya said in his oral presentation in the Justice and Development Party (AKP) closure case that the Justice and Development Party’s intention was a system based on sharia law of Islam and that there was a clear and present danger in this respect.

Yalçınkaya made his presentation at the Constitutional Court at 09.35 and it lasted one and a half hours.

He said that the Venice Criteria did not apply in this case and that the acquittal of Fethullah Gülen would not affect the outcome of this case, since this acquittal case did not change the fact that Gülen is the head of a Muslim congregation.

Yalçınkaya also added that the annulment of the amendment about the use of headscarf in the universities did not change the nature of the allegations, but strengthened them.

He also mentioned that the United Nations Security Council list of people who give financial support to the terror organization included the Saudi businessperson Yasin El Kadı, whose name is associated with the AKP circles.

The Chief Prosecutor also mentioned the latest speech by AKP deputy chairperson Fırat about the traumatic effect of Atatürk’s revolutions as an example, but he did not include this as additional evidence.

The court did not have any questions for the Chief Prosecutor.
