Two Detentions, One Arrest in "Ergenekon"

Two retired soldiers have been taken into custody and one arrested as part of the Ergenekon investigation.

The Ergenekon investigation started after a weapons arsenal was found in the district of Ümraniye in Istanbul in June 2007.

After many waves of arrests and detentions, more retired members of the military have now been taken into custody.

According to Ntvmsnbc.com, two retired soldiers were taken into custody in relation to weapons found buried on land in Poyrazköy, part of the Istanbul district of Beykoz.

Former commando arrested

Previously, on Wednesday, 13 May, former SAT Commando Ergin Geldikaya had been taken into custody. The police also searched the famous Reina nightclub where Geldikaya is working as security chef. It has also been reported that the police found weapons at Geldikaya's home in Üsküdar.

According to the Radikal newspaper, Geldikaya has now been arrested, while four others detained with him have been released.

The Star newspaper had said that a business card of Alparslan Arslan, the gunman in the State Council attack, had been found on one security staff, and that two body guards at Reina had been trained by the company providing security to the State Council. (EÖ/AG)
