Attack On Military Vehicle In Eastern Turkey

A military vehicle carrying the soldiers coming back from guard duty was attacked while passing through the Cizre district. The attack came right after the calls to end the war in the eastern Turkey. The PKK says they are continuing with the ceasefire.

A military vehicle carrying the soldiers coming back from the guard duty was attacked. Soldiers Emrah Karataş, Zeki Yolcu and Turan Damga were killed.

According to the news by the Turkish Radio and Television (TRT), four of the twelve soldiers are critically wounded.

The attack took place at the Nusaybin Street of Cizre district in the Şırnak province yesterday (December 24) in the evening hours. The soldiers were killed with long range rifles. The operations that started in the Cudi neighborhood after the shootings lasted until the early morning hours. According to daily “Milliyet”, the teams went into the houses, by breaking the door when necessary.

The PKK says “they are abiding by the one-sided ceasefire”

According to the news in daily “Taraf”, Ahmet Deniz, a representative of the Foreign Relations Committee in the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), says they are continuing with the one-sided ceasefire they launched at the last religious holiday.

“A conference without the PKK will not bring any results”

According to the news, Deniz says the common conference of the Kurds will not bring any results, if the PKK does not participate in it. Furthermore, it would be meaningless for the PKK to lay down its weapons without steps towards a solution are taken. (TK/TB)
