Assault On A Police Bus In Diyarbakır: Five Dead

Five people, four of them police officers, were killed in an assault on a police school bus in Diyarbakır. There are at least 15 injured. The Police are conducting house raids.

A police service bus for the Ali Gaffar Okkan Police School in Diyarbakır, a province in the eastern Turkey, was attacked, resulting in the death of the four police officers and the assistant driver of the bus Vedat Ulu. The names of the police officers who could be identified are Adem Seyfioğlu, Ramazan Tavancı and Adem Kılıçarslan.

The news agencies have reported varying figures regarding the number of those injured in the attack: cnnturk.com and Fırat News Agency 23, hurriyet.com.tr and ntvmsnbc 19 and Anadolu Agency 15 people. The injured have been taken to the hospital of the Dicle Medical Faculty.

According to cnnturk.com, the police department was heard telling its officers that they could search the suspected houses and individuals, since the Office of the Chief Prosecutor had granted the necessary search order.
