Local TV station reporter Akyol has been beaten by a group of alleged AKP members, as he was trying to cover the election results in Giresun. AKP lost the mayor in the city to main opposition CHP.
In Giresun, local Tempo television channel's reporter Fırat Akyol has been attacked by a group of alleged Justice and Development Party (AKP) members, in front of the party offices. The AKP lost the mayor in Giresun, during yesterday's elections.
Akyol was trying to cover the reactions of political party officials as the elections results came in. Around 00.30 AM, he went to AKP offices, following visits to CHP and MHP.
According to a report published in Giresun daily, several people attacked him, as he was leaving the place. Akyol was commuted to hospital as he suffered bruises on the face and on the head. His health condition is improving. No apparent cause for the attack has been identified yet.(EÖ/AGÜ)
