AKPs About Turn on Adultery

Parliament is discussing the Turkish Penal Law (TCK) motion. The last-minute summit between CHP leader Baykal and Deputy PM Gul produced a compromise of AKP not to launch the adultery motion to Parliament.

The general assembly of Parliament started its session at 15.00. Meanwhile, Baykal and Gul met at Parliament at 15.40. Accompanied by their aides, Gul and Baykal had a 20-minute meeting. Later on Baykal said that "No motion which does not bear signatures of the officials of both parties, will be brought down to Parliament."

He added that, the new TCK will be passed by Parliament swiftly.

Deputy PM Gul said that both AKP and CHP groups approached the TCK sincerely and that they have agreed on a host of issues in the motion. He added that cooperation between the two parties will be continued in other legislation. (YE)
