Court Rejects Prosecutor's Objection To The Release Of Ergenekon Detainees

In Ergenekon investigation, Istanbul’s 13th High Criminal Court rejected prosecutor’s demand that those eight people who were released a few days ago should be arrested back.

Istanbul’s 13th High Criminal Court rejected prosecutor Zekeriya Öz’ demand that the court should have rearrested the eight people it released in the Ergenekon investigation.

 Daily “Cumhuriyet”s Ankara representative Mustafa Balbay, retired rear admiral İlker Güven, Prof. Dr. Ercüment Ovalı, daily Tercüman’s chief editor Ufuk Büyükçelebi, president of Worker Party Pioneer Youth Tunç Akkoç, Siyami Yalçın, Erzurum reporter of the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation Murat Avar, and Neriman Gözaydın were taken into custody and released later.

Prosecutor Öz objected to this decision.

Former commander of the First Army retired four star general Hurşit Tolon, former commander of the Gendarmerie forces and head of the Atatürkist Thought Association (ADD) retired four  star general Şener Eruygur and head of Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) Sinan Aygün were put in Kocaeli 1st F Type High Security Prison.

Previously arrested president of Worker Party DoğuPerinçek, Nationalist TV’s chief director Ferit İlsever, periodical “Aydınlık”s chief editor Serhan Bolluk, journalist Adnan Akfırat, Muzaffer Tekin, retired general staff colonel Mehmet Fikri Karadağ, retired captain Zekeriya Öztürk are in Tekirdağ F Type Prison.
