The president of the Revolutionary Confederation of Labor Unions Süleyman Çelebi stated that the government led by the Justice and Development Party (AKP), the Istanbul Governor and the Istanbul Police Department violated the basic human rights and that they will take what they describe as “state terror” to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), the International Labor Organization (ILO), and the agenda of the labor movement.

Çelebi stated that the police threw tear gas bombs into the DISK building, used pressurized water to disperse people,  exercised violence against workers, threw tear gas into the hospitals, jeopardized lives and violated personal immunity, freedom of expression and the right to have meetings and demonstrations.

Çelebi also added that all these acts were “the biggest provocation”: What we experienced today showed us that the provocation the governor was talking about was actually implemented by the police forces themselves.”(TK)
