Four reporters were detained for a short time for covering military activity in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari in south-eastern Turkey.

Four journalists who were photographing military activity in the border area between Turkey and Iraq were detained fro a short period.
Ömer Oguz of the Yüksekova News, Nevzat Tas and Kerim Kantarcioglu from the Ihlas News Agency and Müslüm Bayburs of the Yeni Safak newspaper were detained on Monday (22 October) morning as they were photgrophing military convoys.
ID checks
They were held at a gendarmerie station in Yüksekova district for around two hours and their ID cards were taken away. They were released after when their IDs were checked on-line with the General Information Scan.
Kantarcioglu told bianet that the journalists did not complain from mistretament during their short arrest.
The place where the journalists were arrested remains within the temporary security zones which were announced by the General Staff on 9 June. In and over these zones, which include the provinces of Siirt, Hakkari and Sirnak, flights and civilian movement are restricted, (EÖ/AG)
