Anything But Tunceli on News in Zaza Language

Tunceli, homeland of Zazas of Turkey, is yet to be heard in programs in Zaza language broadcasted by TRT while various parts of Turkey along with Kirkuk, East Asia and Western Thrace are watched frequently.

Turkey’s state owned TV and radio broadcast company TRT gives voice to Zaza language in its broadcasting in non-Turkish languages it gave start on 7th of June 2004.

European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) decisions on Turkey do not take place in the program “Our Cultural Legacy” nor do the military combats in the region.

Instead, news deliver soldiers’ response to the events in Kirkuk and oppressed Turkish Union of Ksanthi’s intention to apply to ECHR.

Various issues ranging from re-election of Deniz Baykal as the leader of main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) and European Commission member Franco Frattini’s perception of Turkey as a role model for Islamic countries to the money raised by the Prime Minister for the tsunami victimns are given voice in the news.

After the sports news on transfers of French football star Nicholas Anelka to Turkish team Fenerbahçe, Rinday Anadoli (Aspirations from Anatolia) takes place.

The program specifies the danger of extinction for a special type of textile industry in Rize (Northern Turkey) caused by lacking hemp plant linen.

The music program provides room for guitarist Cemil Koçgün’s song “Cureless Man.”

The following broadcast Mavira Kesk (From Blue to Green) tells the story of Hüseyin Amca whose homeland is flooded after construction of a dam on the River Euphrates. Yet Zaza’s are still expecting to hear and watch about where they ar massively inhabited: The province of Tunceli!

After publication of a bylaw on broadcasting in non-Turkish languages on 25th of January 2004, Bosnian @ language has been the first to be given a shot. The weekly program of non-Turkish broadcasting on TRT Radio 1 and TRT 3 looks as follows: Arabic on Tuesdays, Kurmanji Language on Wednesdays, Caucasian on Thursdays and Zaza on Fridays. (OA/EK/YE)
