The Employment and Labor Council report said that one out of three educated youth in Turkey, and two women out of three are jobless. Joblessness is more widespread among women, said the report and added the jobless rate would double in the year 2010.
The report, prepared by the ESK Employment and Labor Council, headed by the Turkish Employers' Unions Confederation (TISK) said the jobless rate in Turkey kept increasing since 1997.
According to the report, agriculture is a big part of job market. "The economic growth of the last couple of years is not resulting in an increase in jobs," said the report.
Most are uneducated
According to the report, most of the unemployed people are uneducated and do not have professions. It added the unregistered labor was preventing economic development. ESK in its report, said the following:
"In the next 10 years, the structural change of the labor market will increase the joblessness pressure. In the year 2010, the jobless rate will double. To prevent this negative trend, we need to devise and implement a contemporary national labor strategy which aims to increase the job creation potential of the economy."
Proposals
The report also had a set of proposals for the disabled under the title, "Disabled People and Solution Proposals:"
* The labor and investment conditions should be improved.
* Unregistered economy should be registered.
* employment should be encouraged, and the bureaucracy in employing laborers and carrying out work should be removed.
* The work places that pay their taxes and premiums should receive discounts. (BB/EA/YE)
