Haşim Gemik, whose son Çağdaş Gemik was killed by a police bullet, filed a complaint against Mehmet Seyman, vice governor of Antalya, accusing him of “attempting to influence the trial process.”

The vice governor had sent a circular to the prosecutor asking for information about the investigation regarding Çağdaş Gemik’s murder and did this by a communication stamped “confidential”.

Haşim Gemik claims that Seyman might have sent this by the order of his superiors and therefore, the investigation must include everyone who may have taken part in the incident.

While the authorities conducting the investigation, Seyman had defended the action of the accused police officer in the letter he had sent and furthermore had asked for information about the investigation.

Previously, Seyman had behaved similarly about the complaint by Lambdaistanbul regarding the police violence they had to endure and written that there had been no such cases in the records and no “rights violation was found.”

The investigation about Çağdaş Gemik’s murder committed on October 27 is still continuing. Police officer Ergin was put under arrest for the charge of murder. (TK/TB)
